Seems like yesterday

For many of us female Nas LOVERS we did not want to see Nas with another women better yet married so when he tied the knot with R&B singer Kelis five years ago, many were disappointed but yet happy for the couple.  We have come to except them as Hip Hop’s leading couple.  Now …  Kelis has filed for divorce yesterday afternoon … alleging Nas has cheated and became verbally abusive.  As much as I HATE  to say this … Ummmh.  I hope they can work through this because Kelis is expected to give birth July 21, 2009 to the couples first born son.

Goodtimes no more

Yesterday the bloggers went into a frenzy over the news of Dwade and Gabby expecting a baby (including myself), however,  Gabby stated with Entertainment correspondent Egypt:

“Hey E!..Girl I love margaritas and my career too much for babies at this time”….”the Chicago Sun Times has been asked to print a retraction but clearly the truth didn’t make it as far as the lie…I’m not 37…let’s get the real deal out there. Why would I get knocked up AND why would a bunch of ball  players sit around talking about whose got mothering skills…the rumor was stupid and made no sense and your the first person to bother to fact check so thanks girl. I’m not ready for babies at this time. It’ll be years before I am! But big ups to all the women out there holding it down!”

So I guess we  spoke to soon … Well we shall see … hehe

23 year old Kerby Revelus

Boston, Massachusetts:  Kerby Revelus, a 23 year old has killed his two younger sisters while another watched.  Revelus fatally stabbed his 17-year-old sister, Samantha, beheaded his five-year-old sister, Bianca, while nine year old, Sarafina watched.  Revelus was shot and killed by officers who arrived at the scene.

There is no clear motive for this horrendous attacks that occurred on Sunday in Milton, a wealthy suburb.

Bianca was killed as her birthday cake sat on the kitchen table.  Sarafina is the one who dialed 911 and then witnessed police fatally shoot her brother.

Sarafina was hospitalized for wounds to her hands, and wounds in her abdomen and one of her legs.

Kerby Revelus recently served time in jail on gun charges.  In 2004 police were called to home for domestic violence, Revelus punched Jessica then 17-year-old sister in the face.

Police believe Kerby was agitated since Friday, when he got into fist fight with a neighbor.  While his grandmother did laundry in the basement, he attacked his siblings with a kitchen knife.  The children’s parents, Regine and Vronze Revelus, were not home.

Last night President Obama addressed members of congress.  Obama spoke candidly on the ongoing crisis America faces.  The highlight of this eloquent speech was Obama singling out a young girl by the name of Ty’Sheoma Betha, an eighth grader from South Carolina.  Bethea wrote a letter addressed to congress, asking for money for her school that has deplorable conditions.

 The President quoting Bethea’s letter:

I think about Ty’Sheoma Bethea, the young girl from that school I visited in Dillon, South Carolina – a place where the ceilings leak, the paint peels off the walls, and they have to stop teaching six times a day because the train barrels by their classroom. She has been told that her school is hopeless, but the other day after class she went to the public library and typed up a letter to the people sitting in this room. She even asked her principal for the money to buy a stamp. The letter asks us for help, and says, “We are just students trying to become lawyers, doctors, congressmen like yourself and one day president, so we can make a change to not just the state of South Carolina but also the world. We are not quitters.”

This morning Bethea interviewed with ABC’s “Good Morning America” Bethea expressed that she was inspired to write the letter because she thought too much money stimulus money was going to people who already had enough.

If you missed the it.  Watch now… Bethea has the best seat in the house, she’s standing next to Michelle Obama…

Remembering The King: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Remembering Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  January 19th is the day that the nation recognizes everything MLK stood for; justice, peace, freedom, equal opportunities, and for all races to come together.  The celebration of justice and peace is greatly needed in light of the death of Oscar Grant and others who died the same death.  This is truly a day to remember and proceed to overcome.

Ok so in 2007 Dwayne Wade and his wife Siovaughn Wade split and both were filing for divorce.  Fast-forward, yesterday it has been reported that Dwayne’s wife Siohvaugn Wade has filed papers in MIA.  She is alleging that he has not taken care of their two sons, cheating ways, and has given her an STD, OMG!  Siohvaugn is also asking for the names of all his sexual partners during their marriage.  There also allegations that Dwayne has put large sums of money in accounts of other women.  Damn!

So now that he is booed up with Gabrielle Union, I guess its only natural that she will labeled a homewreker.  And to place the cherry on top, today is D-Wade’s 27th B-day, Happy Birthday, or maybe not.

Oscar Grant

Oscar Grant

Here we go again.  Another senseless act of police brutality.  On New Year’s day Oscar Grant, a young 22 year old male was shot face down by a BART officer [Johannes Mehserle] in Oakland, California.  Grant was unarmed and hand cuffed.  There are reports that the officer was reaching for his taser but since when does a taser feel like a glock?  Since when do you have to pull a trigger on a taser?  And if you can’t tell the difference between the two point out the academy that promoted this man.  Its obvious that cops have become so desensitized to a black human life that they could take a life so carelessly and in front of any one who could tolerate it.  How could this happen again?  Another young father killed by the hands of a inexperienced, scared itchy trigger finger cop.  I am in total shock and disgust right now.

Three years ago Sean Bell was murdered on his wedding day.  50 shots were fired at Mr. Bell,  killing him and wounded others.  1999 Amadou Diallo was gunned down, 41 shots fired at an unarmed man.  Most recently, 17 year old Billey Joe Johnson of Mississippi was stopped by an officer and Billey “allegedly committed suicide”.  Billey was a star football player, one of the top high school football players in the country, however, this case has been ruled a suicide but under investigation by the NAACP.  Robbie Tolan, 23 year old  baseball player was shot unarmed in his own driveway by an officer who “thought” he was driving a stolen car.  Robbie is the son of former major league player Bobby Tolan.  The list goes on and on, and I don’t know about you but I’m tired of counting.

Whats next, more protest, more fires, more arrest?  What is it that we can do as a people?  We have to band together and change our situation.  Circumstances like this make me feel so hopeless to the future of the black man.  Yes, Obama is our symbol of hope but for right now that’s all he is a symbol for something bigger.  Currently our black men are dropping like flies by the hands of cops who pull the trigger like we breath.  There are no real repercussions just sorry excuses and million dollar pay offs for a life.  So what they are willing to pay more for a black life, but they are only paying for a black man dressed in a body bag rocking a toe tag.  This cant be life, this cant be love, this cant be right, there’s  got to be more, this cant be us.  Are yo mad yet?  If so good, right now we have to write our congressman telling them how we feel and what needs to be done.  Write your letters and spread the word.  Now is the time to speak out and stick together.  We cant afford to lose one more life, the next life might be closer to home.
